Skeletons of domestic animals

The collection of domestic animal skeletons is the heart of the Museum of Veterinary Medicine. Created thanks to preparations from necropsies carried out at the Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Nutrition of the University of Padua, this collection has continued to grow thanks also to donations from the territory.

This collection is of great relevance, both from a quantitative and qualitative point of view, representing a valuable teaching tool for many of the main disciplines of Veterinary Medicine. The skeletons are not only a support for the training of university students but also a way to bring compulsory school classes closer to the world of veterinary medicine, stimulating curiosity and interest in the animal kingdom.

With the establishment of the osteotheca (anatomy room) in 2017, a portion of the collection was made available as a loan to students and researchers. This service allows direct consultation of the specimens and represents a unique opportunity to deepen the study of animal species, both from a normal and pathological point of view.
