An extraordinary collection of wild animal osteological specimens offers one of the most relevant research and teaching tools in Europe.
This rich collection consists of osteological preparations from necropsies conducted at the Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Nutrition of the University of Padua. These specimens are joined by examples from the University’s Zoology Museum, creating a unique and fascinating ensemble.
In 2002, with the creation of the Mediterranean Mammal Tissue Bank – established in the same Department with the contribution of the Ministry of Environment and Land and Sea Protection – the collection was enriched with one of the largest marine mammal osteological collections in Italy and Europe.
This collection, thanks to its scientific value and strong connection with the local territory is a fundamental research tool and a unique educational opportunity for students, researchers, and enthusiasts.
